Outpatient Therapy Services

Life’s Journey offers specialized outpatient therapy services to communities in the Hampton Roads area. We are dedicated to providing professional therapy services while utilizing proven treatment tools. Our therapists are experienced, credentialed, and maintain a high standard of care while providing a friendly and nurturing environment.

Outpatient care can involve one or more mental health services that don’t require a prolonged stay in a facility. Treatment provided in outpatient care helps patients learn to cope with stressors and manage their mental health. Treatment can be anywhere from short-term counseling, to long-term care plans including therapy and/or medication.

Outpatient care is the most common treatment for many mental health problems due to its lower cost, better flexibility to patients’ needs and schedules, and a larger selection of providers. Outpatient care should only be applied when constant support is unnecessary and it is healthier for the patient to remain in their environment to experience stressors and learn to cope with professional guidance. This approach is often the best course of action for individuals with problems like eating disorders, depression, and anxiety.

Psychiatric Services

Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in mental health, including substance use disorders. Psychiatrists are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems.

People seek psychiatric help for many reasons. The problems can be sudden, such as a panic attack, frightening hallucinations, thoughts of suicide, or hearing “voices.” Or they may be more long-term, such as feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or anxiousness that never seem to lift or problems functioning, causing everyday life to feel distorted or out of control.

Life’s Journey offers specialized psychiatric and medication management services to communities in the Hampton Roads area. We are dedicated to providing professional medical treatment. Our physicians are experienced, credentialed, and dedicated to providing quality care to our clients.
